Cesar E. Ceballos, MD, FAAOS, is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon, dual Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine not a non-operative sports medicine physician, but a fully trained surgeon who has built his career around a single idea: the body’s own biology is often the best tool for healing, and surgery should be reserved for when it’s truly needed. As Founder of OrthoMiami, he has developed one of South Florida’s leading practices in Regenerative Orthopedics, Orthobiologics, and Ultra-Minimally Invasive Surgery, giving patients the full range of orthopedic care from advanced biologic treatment to surgical correction under one roof.
With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Ceballos has cared for thousands of patients from elite professional athletes to weekend warriors and active adults who simply want to move without pain. His philosophy is simple: preserve the body’s natural tissue whenever possible, reach for surgery only when truly necessary, and use the most advanced biologic therapies available to accelerate healing and long term joint health.
At the core of that philosophy is a belief that orthopedic care should start long before an injury or a diagnosis with Preventative Orthopedics: identifying imbalances, early degeneration, and risk factors before they turn into torn cartilage, damaged joints, or surgical problems. It is this prevention-first mindset that leads naturally into Regenerative Orthopedics using the body’s own biologic resources to intervene early, support healing, and keep small problems from becoming big ones. This is a philosophy that only works when it comes from a surgeon: Dr. Ceballos can recommend the least invasive option with full confidence, because he is also the one qualified to perform surgery if and when it becomes the right answer. Prevention and regeneration are the strategy; surgical training is what makes that strategy trustworthy.
Looking ahead, this is the direction Dr. Ceballos is building OrthoMiami toward a practice where Preventative Orthopedics is the first conversation, not an afterthought, Regenerative Orthopedics is the natural next step whenever the body needs an added assist to heal, and Orthopedic Surgery remains available, expertly, when it’s genuinely the best path forward. It’s a shift away from the traditional model of waiting until surgery is the only option, toward one where early detection and biologic treatment give patients more control over their own joint health, for longer backed the entire way by a surgeon’s judgment.
Recognized as one of South Florida’s early pioneers in Regenerative Orthopedics and Needle Arthroscopy, Dr. Ceballos offers personalized treatment plans built around today’s most advanced
orthobiologic therapies, including:
These therapies allow many patients to recover faster, reduce pain, improve function, and in appropriate cases avoid or delay major joint replacement surgery altogether. And when
surgery is the right call, Dr. Ceballos performs all of his arthroscopic surgery using needle arthroscopy including the Nanoscope across the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He also performs the full range of other orthopedic surgical procedures, applying the most minimally invasive technique appropriate for each case. Whether the procedure is a needle scope arthroscopy or a more traditional repair, it’s guided by the same surgical precision and judgment that define his non surgical care.
Following medical school at the University of Miami, Dr. Ceballos completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami before pursuing advanced Sports Medicine Fellowship training affiliated with Stanford University. During his fellowship, he trained alongside physicians caring for the San Francisco 49ers and Stanford University Athletics, experience that continues to shape his evidence based, performance-focused approach to care.
Today, Dr. Ceballos remains committed to advancing the field of orthopedic medicine through innovation, education, and the integration of preventative and regenerative technologies with state-of-the-art surgical technique. Whether the goal is returning to competitive athletics, preserving a natural joint, recovering faster after surgery, or undergoing surgery performed by a true specialist, his mission is the same: personalized care that catches problems early, restores function, preserves anatomy, and improves quality of life.
